The Singapore Under-23 side are constantly prepared for a prolonged training tour abroad later this year.
There are so many things planned for the young Singapore team in preparation for the 2015 SEA Games.
The Young Lions will be leaving for an extensive period of training in the second half of this year, just when the Singapore Cup will be into its quarter finals stages.
Football Association of Singapore (FAS) affirmed the courses of action with Goal when questioned on the Courts Young Lions' absence from the Singapore Cup this year.
An FAS spokesperson said that, "As the Court Young Lions’ prolonged absence will affect the scheduling of Cup matches, the S.League invited another foreign team to take part in the Singapore Cup to ensure that the tournament remains a 16-team competition."
As per The New Paper report earlier in the week, the Courts Young Lions want to sit out the 2015 S. League season for a year-long stint abroad that will help boost their hopes of winning the coveted SEA Games god medal at home land.
This year’s Courts Young Lions’ absence in the Singapore Cup is its third in four years. The squad skipped the 2011 and 2012 seasons due to SEA Games preparations and AFC U-23 competitions respectively.
