Youngster Natasha Roslan's incorporation in the national first class squad in January may have at first cocked eyebrows, however the 18-year-old is turned out to be an energy in knocking down some pins.
Fresh from completing an admirable fourth last month at National Championships, Natasha is going to battle with incredible weapons at the ongoing Malaysian Open rocking the bowling alley titles.
Presently, she sits agreeably in fourth place in the wake of posting 1,368 pinfalls in six games in the women’s Masters qualifying rounds which is being held at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Sunway Pyramid.
Previously, Natasha had a short stint with the National Youth squad in 2011, yet quit to focus on her studies.
It was a great choice as she scored 5As in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) a year ago while at training with the Selangor state team.
In December 2012, Natasha made a professional achievement by winning the Masters, a mixed-gender open competition, in the wake of beating Singapore's Vincent Lim.
Natasha stated that, “As a senior in the national squad, I am aware that my performance in each tournament is being closely monitored.”
“There is no room for slacking off as a newcomer to the team, there is even more reason for me to put up a good show.
“My initial goal is to make it to the step-ladder finals, and if I can achieve that, anything is possible.”
Victoria Chin and Hee Kar Yen, two of the national back-up bowlers are right now heading the local pool with 1,399 pinfalls each, followed by Shalin Zulkifli with 1,374 pinfalls).
The Singaporean, women’s defending title holder, Shayna Ng and 32 other qualifiers is set to play eight games in the first round of the Masters on Friday.
The top 16 bowlers in the first round will advance to the second round of the competition.
The top three from both local and overseas pool will automatically qualify for the second round, where they will meet the top 16 bowlers of the first round.
Another set of eight games will be played by the top three and the top 16 to decide who will be the final six for the step-ladder finals.
