Steve Darby Kelantan head coach in Malaysia Super League

Kelantan's tight calendar schedule this season has taken a toll on them in the AFC Cup, as Steve Darby accepts that an excess of back to back fixtures was the reason they lost to Yangon United.

Kelantan head coach, Steve Darby has faulted the tight calendar schedule as the cause behind why his group wasn’t able to win against Yangon United, the reason why they have been eliminated from AFC Cup at the group stage.

In a crucial match where the Red Warriors’ win is needed to keep their AFC Cup dreams alive, they couldn't discover the winning recipe, losing 3-2 to Yangon.

This has finally bid the club goodbye with one more game left in the group stage.

As stated by Astro Arena, Steve Darby has communicated his dissatisfaction by expressing that the tight timetable between MSL and AFC Cup fixtures has not helped his club.

Playing before their home fans, Kelantan went behind in the 24th minute mark of the game, as Cesar Augusto scored the opener.

However, Kelantan demonstrated their battling soul with goals from Khairul Izuan and Wan Zaharulnizam which gave the Red Warriors an advantage early in the second half.

The Red Warriors were unable to hold the lead thought, with the visitors scoring two goals from Emerson Reis Luiz and Kyaw Ko to grab three big points.

Kelantan will now face South China in Hong Kong on April 22nd, just for the sole purpose of finishing the group fixtures.
